Originating from the 6th-century Indian game Pachisi, this cross-and-circle board game was brought to the UK in the late 1800s. It has become arguably the most recognizable and widespread social game ever since, finding its way into almost every household.

Two, three, or four players can play the game, and each is awarded 4 tokens of red, blue, green, or yellow color. To deploy a token from the yard, a player must roll a six first, which also provides an additional dice roll. The objective is to circumnavigate the entire board and reach the home triangle first.

Despite the significant factor of luck in any dice game, a great deal of strategy and tactics can be implemented to better your odds of winning. Moving fast might be determined by the luck of the draw, but moving wisely is entirely your responsibility. Deploy multiple pawns on the board whenever possible to ensure there’s a backup plan once things go south. Playing Ludo is a low-key awesome introduction to probability and advanced math.
