Free Gear
Free Gear is an exciting retro arcade racing game featuring Quick Race and Tournament game modes, four upgrade categories for your car, disco music, old-school graphics, and thrilling gameplay. In the Options menu, you can choose between the automatic (default) and manual gear switching depending on your preferences and driving experience.
In the beginning, your car isn’t fine-tuned to deliver the optimal performance on the circuits and you can only earn credits for essential upgrades while competing in tournaments. There are a total of 5 tournaments available, each consisting of several races, and to unlock the more challenging ones you must place at least third in the current contest.
How to play Free Gear
You’ll seldom need to use the brakes in this game, so it’s important to focus on overtaking the other racers effortlessly. It’s usually much harder to drive past the drivers positioned at the leading spots, so save the nitro boost to help you in the do-or-die situations because you can use it a total of 3 times during one race.
What are the controls for Free Gear?
You can play Free Gear on both PC and mobile devices, but the option to switch gears manually is a PC browser exclusive.
If you prefer playing on mobile, tap and hold the RPM meter to accelerate, the brake pedal to slow down, the C button to use the nitro boost, and the P button to pause. Tap and hold the steering wheel, then move your finger to steer left or right.
