Hook & Slice

Play as a dexterous samurai and annihilate countless enemies in a fast-paced 2D ragdoll hack & slash action game, Hook & Slice! The ambidextrous protagonist wields an epic grappling hook in one hand and a traditional Japanese weapon in the other. You’re in charge of using the hook, while the character does all the slashing automatically if positioned properly.

This game is very easy to jump right into because the hook-grab-pull mechanic feels very intuitive and natural. Additionally, the gameplay unfolds in slow motion for as long as you’re holding the aim control. However, as the levels become increasingly complex, you must make the most of your overpowered abilities to stand a chance of staying alive.

How to play Hook & Slice

The level design itself poses a much greater threat to your survival than enemy samurai. Certainly, you’ll want to aim the trusty grappling hook at hostile targets, but try to perceive this ability primarily as a positioning tool. The enemies are numerous, so hooking a single one at the cost of eating an exploding barrel, for example, is really not worth it.

The deadly traps and wall spikes can be, however, used to your advantage. By default, the opposing samurai will chase after you. Therefore, you can either pull them into taking damage with the hook shot or, more easily, lure them astray. 

What are the controls for Hook & Slice?

• Tap or click, then hold to enter the slow-motion (aim mode).
• Drag while holding to set the direction in which you want to hurl the grappling hook.
• Finally, release to throw it and pull the character toward the target hit.
