Die in the Dungeon
Die in the Dungeon is a cheeky, dice-based deckbuilder where your “cards” are dice and every roll makes you feel like a gambler with commitment issues. You play as a tiny, hungry creature trying to survive procedurally generated rooms by placing and combining dice on a small board, collecting relics, and building synergies that turn you from a snack into a predator. The project began as small itch.io prototypes and prologues called Origins or Classic and graduated to a full Steam release in 2025.
How to Play Die in the Dungeon?
You build a deck of dice where each die is an action. At the start of each turn the game rolls dice into your hand and you choose which dice to play onto your little board. Dice have values that determine the strength of attacks or blocks and special faces that grant effects like healing, boosting other dice, copying behaviors, or changing values. Positioning matters since some dice amplify neighbors and relics modify your whole strategy. Between fights you choose upgrades, add new dice types, and grab relics that create combo pathways. Expect to adapt because RNG rolls will both ruin and crown your run.
Beginners should focus on consistent synergies: pick dice that reliably scale together, prioritize relics that shore up your weak spots, and avoid overcomplicating the board early on. Advanced players hunt for tight combos that let a single high roll cascade into massive damage, learn when to conserve energy, and exploit relics that turn mediocre dice into engines. Treat every dice roll like a negotiation you will probably lose at least once.Â
