Strands NYT
Strands NYT (or NYT Strands) is a word puzzle game originally from The New York Times, following in the footsteps of popular games like Wordle. In Strands, you are presented with a 6x8 grid of letters, and your task is to uncover words that connect around a specific daily theme, highlighted through a unique "spangram".
How to play Strands?
Each puzzle centers around a spangram—a unique word that defines the puzzle's theme and touches two opposite sides of the board.
Getting Started
Begin by examining the grid filled with letters. Your challenge is to discover words related to a specific theme displayed at the start of each game.
Finding Words
Connect letters horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to form words. You can change direction mid-word, and no letter is reused within the same word.
The Spangram
Identifying the spangram is crucial as it helps in understanding the overall theme. This word will span from one side of the grid to the other, providing a clue to the connections among the words you need to find.
Theme and Hints
The theme is your clue to the words hidden in the grid. If you struggle, forming three incorrect theme words will unlock hints, highlighting a correct word on the grid to assist you.
Completing the Puzzle
The puzzle is solved once all theme-related words and the spangram are correctly identified. There’s no penalty for wrong guesses—they simply help you earn hints.
